Let me start by introducing myself. I am Richie and I am the director of RJ Powell Decor Ltd.
I started my apprenticeship back in 1998, where I worked for a small family run painting and decorating business. I was fortunate enough to have a boss who put a lot of trust in me and the skills he had taught me, and this was instrumental in helping me to become confident and skilled in all aspects of decorating but also in running a business.
In 2001 we set up R J Powell Decor and have never looked back. Now with over 20 years of experience as a painter and decorator we have fine tuned our systems and processes, and only use the highest quality materials to give you the customer the very best quality of finish. We pride ourselves in being punctual, polite, clean and tidy as well as efficient. We understand what a big undertaking a decorating project can be and so we strive to cause as little disruption as is possible.
We work on all sorts of projects from single bedrooms to whole property redecorations. We do all aspects of interior and exterior painting, decorating, spray finishing & wall paper hanging. We have extensive experience of working in domestic properties, schools, churches, shops, offices, warehouses and more.

Airless paint spraying has been around for over twenty years now but in the last 10 years technology has come a long way as have painting products.
The technology in water based painting systems has improved so much that we now almost exclusively use them. This means a low VOC content, low odour and very quick drying times, causing less disruption to your home, office or commercial premises.
Airless spraying is a much more efficient way of painting, we are able to be about 40% faster than traditional painting with a brush and roller. This means less disruption for you the client. We are able to achieve a much higher quality of finish on all surfaces and are able to put on a much thicker film of paint increasing durability & longevity.
Not every project is suitable for airless spraying but in our experience the vast majority are.
We continue to offer a brush and roller finish where Spraying is not possible.
We also use the latest sanding and finishing equipment which revolutionises the work we do. This has sped up the preparation time and the quality of finish we can achieve. Using the latest in sanding machines and products we are able to achieve 95% dustless sanding. This means a lot less dust in the air and on surfaces to have to clean up.
Over the last 20 years we have seen and used almost all of the painting products that have come to the market. We have tried and tested these products and selected the ones we know work and meet our very high standards.
We only use the highest quality products available, whether that be fillers, caulks, tapes, protections & paints.

With the products we use, we can leave your project with the confidence that the paint will stand up to the demands placed on it. The paint will stay looking fresh and colourfast for a long time. All wall paints will be durable and scrub resistant as well as having incredible touch up ability. There is nothing worse than a beautiful painted wall that gets damaged somehow, needs a small repair but the paint won’t touch up, you can still see the filler patch after painting or you need to paint the whole wall in. This is wasteful, laborious and expensive.
